Answers to our most common questions from clients

Be Equitable is a full-service diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) firm with over 30 years’ experience. We partner and co-create meaningful learning experiences with our clients. We are a proud certified, Black, women-owned organization. We are a collective of practitioners who work remotely across more than 10 U.S. cities, spanning diverse educational and professional backgrounds that mirror our client’s industries.
Whether it’s disrupting bias, driving inclusive leadership, large-scale culture change initiatives, advancing racial equity, and/or building customized learning experiences that support an organization’s entire learning ecosystem, every day we partner with our clients to solve the complex and challenging issues they’re facing in the workplace and world.
Be Equitable clients range from Top Fortune 100 corporations, U.S. and global companies (including a large number of healthcare organizations), public and private universities and colleges, federal and state agencies, non-profits and foundations, as well as fast-growing specialized firms and start-ups.
Be Equitable offers the following types of support to organizations:
Consulting and Strategy: We conduct programmatic reviews, interviews, and focus groups to develop comprehensive findings and recommendations. We also work with clients to conduct strategy labs, and customized workshops to help develop their DEI strategy based on our findings.
Learning Experiences and Keynotes: We can meet with small and large groups to facilitate learning experiences and keynotes connected to exploring and disrupting bias, growing as inclusive leaders and active allies, centering equity in talent management processes, and more.
Digital Products: Our digital product suite allows organizations use their LMS (Learning Management Systems) to implement asynchronous learning experiences that help busy teams strengthen their DEI knowledge.
Train the Trainer: Participants engage in a week-long learning experience where they become licensed to facilitate our popular Exploring Everyday Bias learning experience at their workplace. Train the Trainer is offered in a private format for organizations with a cohort of 6 or more trainers and a public format for organizations hoping to train a smaller group of facilitators. We also offer a specialized program for healthcare professionals.
Our approach is to reveal human stories behind the data, reframe challenges as opportunities for collective action, and reimagine learning experiences to create meaningful change. In addition, our values drive the work we do and how we do it. Our values are:
Bravely Speak the Truth
Together We Go Far
Do What is Right Not Easy
Believe it Can be Done
No One Way to Be”.
We do our best to embody these values in the content we create, how we support clients, and the ways we work together as a collective team.
Wherever you are on your journey, we invite you to schedule a call with us so that we can learn more about the history of your organization, what draws you to engage in an DEI journey, what DEI work you have done in the past, and how we can go far together. Once we have a chance to learn more about your organization, and discuss opportunities for partnership, our team will share a proposal. Our proposals detail possibilities for a path forward in our work together that accomplishes your DEI goals. To get started send us an email at hello@be-equitable.com.
We are always glad to help prospective clients preview content to determine what learning experiences would best support an organization’s unique needs. We can schedule content walk-throughs for keynotes and virtual instructor-led trainings to help decision-makers. We can also offer preview access to our digital products. Please use our contact us form to set up time with our team.
Keynote sessions can be recorded for an additional fee. Please make sure to discuss the possibility of recording your keynote session so that we can incorporate that option into your contract.
Instructor-led trainings and other experiences designed for smaller groups are not recorded. In those sessions, we encourage participants to take lessons and leave stories, and recording a session might discourage a participant from sharing a story or asking a question that would benefit the whole group’s learning.
Yes, branding is a customization we offer for most of our offerings. However, we reserve the right to keep our branding for certain copyrighted or trademarked material such as our models and activities. Please reach out to your assigned project consultant for branding requests.

No. On Monday, November 21, 2022 we revealed our exciting new rebrand to the world which included changing our name from Cook Ross to Be Equitable. Our movement to Be Equitable is not just a new brand identity, but also an advancement in our approach to creating equitable workplaces for all.
In choosing the name Be Equitable we wanted to ensure that the name spoke with meaning and purpose, that without much explanation the name gave clear expression to the work we are deeply committed to. We also wanted the name to be human, personable and inviting.
We also have come to know that so much of the growth and lived experiences of this work starts with who we are being, and so our name having the BE as our first word represents fittingly our belief that we should start with being before we move to the doing.
The acronym BE superbly reinforces that message. And so, if you have ever asked yourself as a leader, ‘Who do I want to be? And What do I want my world to be?’ We would hope your response would include to Be Equitable.
The illustrations were designed as a way to imagine and create a diverse range of people, purposely bold and imperfect just like each of us. They also have a weightiness to them to indicate the heaviness of the world and the impact on our human bodies. The head and body illustrations were designed by New York based artist, Edward Ubeira.
These last few years have been incredibly tumultuous and constantly evolving, and we are evolving with it. It’s our hope that by hearing the story of our brand journey, it will give the world a better reflection of who we are, the collective approach we take in doing this work, and how we can support you on your journey to be equitable.
